HCDA's Sledge Selected as Real Men Wear Pink Ambassador

Henry County Development Authority’s Executive Director, Leonard Sledge, has joined a team of prominent Henry County men who have stepped forward to serve as ambassadors for breast cancer awareness through Piedmont Henry Hospital’s annual Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Each October – National Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Piedmont Henry enlists the help of men in the community to help spread awareness about breast cancer, the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the U.S.
“I have had several close friends and colleagues who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  In every instance, I saw these amazing women exercise their will to live a full life.  I want to be someone who encourages others.  Early detection leads to a potential early resolution.  I simply want to encourage women to be better informed about the importance of early detection," said Sledge. “I think this is a great opportunity to educate men about the importance of early detection so that they can also encourage the women in their lives to take the appropriate steps.”
