Henry County’s Key Industries

Henry County’s four key industries

Primed for expansion in these key industries, Henry County community and industry leaders are dedicated to advancing the growth of these industries as the county enhances its standing as a corporate hub.

Advanced Manufacturing

Henry County has an impressive presence of advanced manufacturing companies, including Alpla and Southern States. Whether it’s spicing up the backyard BBQ with Ken’s BBQ sauce, sprucing up our homes with a little BEHR paint or enjoying nature with a KL Outdoor kayak in your Luxottica sunglasses, many are unaware that they are routinely using “Made in Henry” products.

Regional, national and international manufacturing companies alike are choosing Henry County, GA as their base of operations in Metro Atlanta and the Southeast.

HERE ARE THE TOP 5 REASONS WHY:
  1. Home to area workforce of 776,000+ workers
  2. Less than 2 hours by air to 80% of the U.S. market
  3. Minutes from Atlanta and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest.
  4. Atlanta Metro’s best access to the Port of Savannah
  5.  A water surplus with capacity to support growth for 30+ year

Healthcare Services

Health Care Services includes hospitals, clinics, wellness centers, and medical laboratories. Beyond medical care and diagnosis, Health Care Services encompasses the “business side of health services,” as it involves the application of health innovation to the marketplace.

Between 2001 and 2011, employment in Health Care Services in Henry County almost doubled (98.9 percent growth), adding over 2,000 jobs to the local economy. During the same period the national sector expanded by 28 percent. Sector growth has stayed well above national trends in recent years. Aging of population and strong projected population growth foretells continued growth in demand.

Henry County residents and visitors enjoy some of the finest healthcare services in the Atlanta region courtesy of Piedmont Henry Hospital, a full-service 215-bed not-for profit community hospital that is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. With more than 400 doctors on staff and nearly 500 nurses, Piedmont Henry Hospital provides 24-hour emergency care plus medical, surgical and diagnostic services.

Logistics

With its great geographic location and topography, the metro's best overall access to both the Port of Savannah and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and favorable tax consideration for ecommerce and logistics operations, Henry County has become one of the key supply chain and logistics and premiere e-commerce locations in the Southeastern USA.

Access to major markets and roadways, proximity to a major freight airport and a major freight port, and existence of utility served sites make Henry County an ideal location.  Twenty miles of Interstate 75 traverse the county with seven interchanges, and Interstate 675, which provides easy access to Interstate 85 and Interstate 20 via I-285, begins in the northern part of Henry County. From this strategic vantage point, Henry County is less than two days’ driving time to 80 percent of the U.S. population. Henry County is also 20 miles south of Atlanta, just minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – the world’s busiest – and within three hours to one of the country’s fastest-growing seaports in Savannah.

Henry’s existing strengths also include a robust logistics workforce and cadre of already existing companies. Henry County has experienced a substantial ten-year growth in wholesale trade and transportation employment driven by local advantages. Logistics-related educational assets in Henry County are found in nearby technical schools and higher education institutions.
