Henry County Strengthens Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Through Innovative Pre-Apprenticeship Program

August 11, 2026

HENRY COUNTY, GA – Henry County continues to strengthen its reputation as a premier destination for advanced manufacturing through a powerful workforce partnership between Southern Crescent Technical College, the Henry County Development Authority (HCDA), and Nexus Circular, a Cox Enterprises portfolio company. As part of the partnership, Nexus Circular has worked closely with Southern Crescent Technical College to develop a pre-apprenticeship program that prepares participants for careers in advanced manufacturing.

“Nexus Circular is demonstrating what workforce leadership looks like,” said Sharon K. Hill, Executive Director of the Henry County Development Authority. “By investing in education and career pathways, Nexus is helping build the skilled workforce our industries need while creating outstanding career opportunities for Henry County residents.”

An Atlanta-based advanced recycling company, Nexus Circular is developing commercial-scale technology to transform hard-to-recycle plastics into high-quality circular materials. As Nexus Circular grows, its partnership with Southern Crescent Technical College is helping create a direct pipeline into advanced manufacturing careers and provide participants with the skills needed to succeed in the industry.

The Nexus Circular Pre-Apprenticeship Program provides nine weeks of classroom and hands-on technical training, preparing participants for careers in advanced manufacturing and future apprenticeships with the company. Scholarships funded through the BlackRock Foundation and administered by the Technical College System of Georgia allow eligible students to complete the program at no cost.

Beyond the classroom, Nexus actively inspires the next generation through Manufacturing Ready Day, Tech Trek Career Fair, and other STEM outreach initiatives that introduce middle and high school students to high-demand manufacturing careers.

“Investing in people is essential to our long-term success,” said Jodie Morgan, CEO of Nexus Circular. “By partnering with Southern Crescent Technical College and local organizations, we’re creating opportunities for individuals while building the skilled workforce needed to support our growth and strengthen the regional economy.”

The program continues to deliver results. Since launching, two cohorts have graduated, with another class expected to complete training in September 2026. Graduates have already transitioned into full-time careers at Nexus Circular.

“Attending the Nexus Circular Pre-Apprenticeship Program was one of the best investments I could have made,” said Kalif Sydnor, now an HMI Operator at Nexus Circular. “The hands-on training and support gave me the confidence and skills to build a rewarding career.”

Graduate Kareem Spence echoed that sentiment. “This program opened the door to a new career with Nexus Circular. The company truly invests in its employees, and I’m grateful to Southern Crescent Technical College for providing this opportunity.”
