Who else is ready for chilly weather, pumpkin spice, hot cocoa, s’mores, campfires, and fall festivals? You don’t have to travel far to find ways to appreciate the fall season. You’ll find numerous events in Henry to keep you busy.
Southern Belle Farm in McDonough is celebrating the harvest with a pumpkin patch, 4 acres of corn maze, and more than 20 outdoor attractions! Farm Admission includes fall activities: Cornfield maze(s), Hayride, Cow Train ride, Corn Cannon – 3 shots, Jumping Pillow, Racing Pedal Carts, Giant Tunnel Slide, Kiddie Korral, Corn Box, Rubber Duck Races, meeting Barnyard Animals, Seesaws and Pig Races. The farm is open this week (Tuesday-Friday from 10 am-6 pm) for limited activities at a special price.
The City of Stockbridge’s annual arts and crafts fair, BridgeFest, is returning with even more entertainment, crafts, cultural experiences and delicious food. The festival is free and will be held on the big Stockbridge City Hall lawn on Saturday, September 28th. The City will also host its Inaugural Youth Talent Showcase at BridgeFest at 10 am. Come out to cheer the youth on as they take the Main Stage and perform!
You’ll find exciting attractions & shows, live music, all your favorite fair food, spectacular carnival rides & kiddie rides and more at the Georgia State Fair on September 27th – October 6th at Atlanta Motor Speedway. There will even be a special meet and greet with Emma Ross for Disney’s Jessie on September 28th from 11 am – 3 pm.
The grand opening for the fall season at Yule Forest in Stockbridge is happening September 28, 2019! Explore the Patch for your pumpkin and experience all of their fun activities and learning exhibits. Music lovers can also enjoy a Fall Concert Series featuring award winning music artists each weekend in October. If you’re in for a thrill, check out one of the top rated actor-based, Haunted Attractions in Georgia, Fear the Woods. The woods will once again come alive Friday, September 27th, when the sun sets over Yule Forest’s Pumpkin Patch. Visit if you dare.
The 22nd annual Bear Creek Festival is September 28, 2019 from 9 am to 5 pm at Hampton City Park, with antique dealers, food vendors, arts & craft vendors and a kid’s area. There will also be a trackless train, blood mobile, raffle drawings, and a hayride.
Scarecrows are coming to Downtown McDonough, GA in October 2019! Come stroll the sidewalks of the historic downtown Square, as you see all the wonderful fall creations from businesses, families and individuals, who created their version of a “scarecrow”. Don’t forget to cast a vote for your favorite, at many of the local merchants as well as at the Welcome Center, located at 5 Griffin Street, McDonough, GA. You can also Trick or Treat on the McDonough Square on October 25th from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 2019 Atlanta Air Show on October 12-13, 2019 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway! This will be the first time in history a U.S. military jet demonstration team will perform over an “Aerial Stadium!” The 3rd annual edition of the event will feature a full afternoon of flight performances from some of the nation’s top military and civilian pilots!
Take the kids to Claude Gray Park (99 Frances Ward Dr) in the City of Locust Grove on October 25th (5 pm – 7 pm) for a Trunk or Treat and Haunted Hayride! Also in Locust Grove, kids can Trick or Treat at Tanger Outlets on October 31st night from 4-6 pm. Visit Shopper Services and participating stores for candy and prizes for children ages 12 and under. Bring the entire family for some Trick or Treat fun!
Take a scroll through Panola Mountain State Park with a Moonlight Mountain Hike or Guided Mountain Hike to see the colorful fall leaves! Bring the kids on October 26th for their Annual Trunk-O-Treat for Halloween. They’ll enjoy games, face painting, tree climbing and contests. Don’t forget to bring a bucket for candy! Boys and ghouls can collect candy going car to car instead of door to door and play on the playground.
The Kiwanis Henry County Fair, a tradition for over 70 years, will be held at the Heritage Park in McDonough on October 29th – November 3rd. Enjoy exciting rides, yummy fair food, live entertainment, a petting zoo, and much more. All of the proceeds from the Kiwanis Henry County Fair stay right here in our community!
