September 2017 was a big month for business and economic development in Georgia! Here are just a few things that happened:

First things first…Georgia was named the number one state for business! This is a distinction that Georgia has now earned for the fourth consecutive year. The rankings were determined by a survey distributed to site consultants by Area Development, a leading executive magazine veering corporate site selection and relocation. Georgia ranked number one for workforce development programs, and cooperative and responsive state government.

Another great honor this month went to the Georgia Department of Economic Development for ranking the Nation’s Best State-Level Economic Development Agency! Governor Deal announced that the GDEcD was ranked the nation’s best state-level economic development agency in a survey released by Development Counselors International (DCI). DCI releases the survey every three years, and Georgia has earned the top spot twice in a row. Their ranking is a testament to the hard work and commitment to our state, and we at the Henry County Development Authority are proud to partner with them!

The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Workforce Division announced this month about the premiere of Great Georgia Jobs! This our-episode television series will air statewide and will focus on state resources and training programs for Georgia job seekers. The series will put a spotlight on Georgians who took advantage of the state’s workforce resources and training programs that ultimately contributed to career success. They’ve partnered with the Technical College System of Georgia, the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, and the Georgia Department of Labor to be featured in the series.

The Georgia Centers of Innovation for Aerospace provides the technical industry expertise, collaborative research and partnerships to help the state’s aerospace industry connect, compete and grow. Georgia recently ranked number one among the top ten U.S. states for aerospace manufacturing, while the U.S. once again remained first globally! This month, the Georgia Centers of Innovation for Aerospace teamed up with local public safety departments by using drones in simulated practice scenarios to train for plane crashes, car accidents, and even natural disasters.
