Small Business Saturday – Where shopping small is BIG!

American Express first launched Small Business Saturday  in 2010, encouraging people across the country to support small, local businesses. The U.S. Senate officially recognized the day in 2011, and in 2012, nearly 80 million people shopped small on that day! Now, it has become so huge, that they are asking people to rally their neighborhoods to encourage others to shop small. We encourage you to shop small on November 28th here in Henry County! Shop and dine Main Street McDonough, Locust Grove Main Street, or Main Street Hampton! Be sure to support all the small businesses in Stockbridge as well!

While in McDonough, grab breakfast at Gritz Family Restaurant, sip a cup of coffee from Queen Bee Coffee Company, have lunch at Pasta Max, shop the day away at Southern Drawl Outfitter and American Honey, have dinner at Seasons Bistro, then finish the night off with dessert from Rita’s Italian Ice! Did we mention taking time to pamper yourself at Scarlett’s Retreat Day Spa?

If you’re headed to Locust Grove, be sure to grab a slice of pizza from Slices Pizzeria before checking out what’s new (or old) at The Grove Depot. Finish off the day with a decadent dinner at The French Market & Tavern.

Main Street Hampton is recognizing the importance of small businesses. Participating Hampton businesses will have special Shop Small cards to be used in their stores, and there will be an elf somewhere in each store. Find the elf at each store and shop to get your card stamped. You could win a gift basket filled with goods and discounts from these businesses. Learn more at Shop Small – Hampton.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy. The owners and employees of these companies not only provide services, but they engage in acts of volunteerism and leadership all across our community. Henry County is a better place to live because of them, and they deserve our thanks and recognition for all their important contributions,” said Charlie Moseley, Executive Director of the Henry County Development Authority.

November 28th is the perfect day to get your holiday shopping done, all while supporting our local Henry County small businesses. The hard part is choosing where to go first!
