Spring into Henry
Today is the official first day of spring! While there is still a little chill in the air, spring makes us think of warmer weather, sunshine, flowers blooming, Easter eggs, swimming, vacations, and graduations. We’ve got the scoop on what to do right here in Henry this spring.
Benefit the Noah’s Ark Animal Rehabilitation Center by participating in the 9th Annual Zebra Dash on April 6th at 9 AM! Run through the pasture, trails and animal habitats for this unique 5K. There will also be a one-mile fun run for kids. This is a great event for the whole family.
Taste of Henry will take place on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Jason T. Harper Event Center at Heritage Park in McDonough. This event benefits A Friend’s House, Henry County’s home for abused, neglected, and abandoned children. From trendy new dishes to time-tested comfort food, Taste of Henry 2019 promises to serve up flavors to satisfy every taste.
Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama
The Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama, the massive celebration of anything with an engine, has grown into one of the largest festivals of its kind in the South. From hot rods to rat rods to motorcycles, to monster trucks, there is something for everybody – and then some – at the annual two-day event on April 27th – April 28th.
Celebrate all things Locust Grove on April 27th with the Annual Parade at 10 AM, Craft Fair, performers, nighttime street dance, kids activities and more! This year, the City of Locust Grove will be hosting a FREE Quasquicentennial cookout at 3:00 PM until supplies run out to celebrate their 125th Anniversary.
Hop on over to Tanger Outlets in Locust Grove to get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny! He’ll be around from April 6th through April 20th from 12 PM – 6 PM, so go see him before he heads back down the rabbit hole.
Take the kids out to Panola Mountain State Park for the Eggciting Hike Hunt on April 20th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Peter Cottontail will be leaving eggs hidden in their nature trails. Ages 2 and less, 3-6, and 7-12 will have their own trails to search for eggs and prizes. Must Register in advance. Call 770-389-7801 to register. $5/child.
Enjoy free admission (with free parking and shuttle) to the 38th Annual Geranium Festival Saturday, May 18th in Downtown McDonough. As always, there will be arts, crafts, food, children’s area, community business area, local vendors, and more. Don’t forget to take home a geranium (or two)!
