Start your engines in Henry County!
Whether you are new to racing or a hardcore fan, you can satisfy your need for speed in Henry. Henry County is the proud home of Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS). Located on 887 acres in Hampton, GA., just 25 miles south of Atlanta, AMS is one of the country’s top sports, corporate, family and entertainment facilities. Since holding its first race in 1960, AMS has become a premiere facility for multiple forms of racing in addition to a wide range of other events which have included concerts, family gatherings, business conventions and the Georgia State Fair.
Did you know that AMS is the site of Richard Petty’s final race and Jeff Gordon’s first race? Both of these famous moments occurred during the same event in 1992. Some of NASCAR’s biggest names, Joey Logano, David Ragan and brothers, Austin and Ty Dillon, can all trace their roots back to Atlanta Motor Speedway. AMS even witnessed the familial torch passed from NASCAR Hall of Famer and Georgia Native, Bill Elliott, to his son, Chase.
NASCAR weekend is quickly approaching as AMS gears up to host the annual Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 (Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race). Race fans can expect 500 miles of edge-of-the-seat action. This sporting event, along with the other sports and entertainment events held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, generated approximately 220,000 attendees in 2018.
It’s not too late to lock in your seats!
