Unity in the Community 5K

September 9, 2017

This race by Get Set Grow benefits all Henry County Public Safety. Registration opens at 6:45am, with the 5K race beginning at 8:00am. There will also be a Tot Trot at 9:00am for children under 6. This race will kick off at Shiloh Baptist Church in Downtown McDonough. Dress in your best patriotic gear, and be sure to register by September 8th! 

First Responders Day

This year marks the 1st Annual First Responders Day put on by Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary in Locust Grove. This fun-filled day will include guest speakers, public safety demonstrations, bouncy houses for the kiddos, live music, food trucks, and more! Don’t miss this free, family-friendly event from 9:00am to 5:00pm. 

Race for the Fallen Glow Run

The Police Benevolent Foundation’s Race for the Fallen GLOW RUN honors fallen officers and their families. It’s a night time family-fun race for participants of all ages & speeds! The race will begin at 8pm at the Salem Baptist Recreation Complex in McDonough. You can choose between a 5K or 1 mile for this race. Finishers will receive an LED glowing race medal!

Henry County Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Henry County Walk To End Alzheimer’s in Partnership with Edward Jones is inviting you to join their team and walk for this special cause. The Henry County Walk will be held at  Alexander Park (300 Atlanta Street, McDonough, GA) on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Registration begins at 8:00am. Click here to register for Henry County Walk

In addition to the walk this year, Henry County will be “Painting the Town Purple” in honor of World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and to raise funds.  All cities in Henry County will do something purple the week of September 24 – September 30th.  One of the things that we will do is display purple pinwheels all over the town.  Click here to purchase pinwheels or awareness bracelets.

Goblin Gallop 5K / 10K

You don’t want to miss the 14th Annual Goblin Gallop benifiting Hands of Hope Clinic Come dressed in your best costume and you could win a prize! The 5K, 10K, and 1 Mile will begin at 9 am and the Tot Trot will start at 10 am. The event will be held at Heron Bay Golf and Country Club. Registration closes on Friday, October 20 at NOON. Register before OCT 12 to reserve your T-Shirt.

National Night Out

National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event held each year in the United States. Henry County’s National Night Out is organized by the Henry County Police Department and aims to celebrate the partnership between the Henry County community and its public safety agencies. This event will include fall activities with food, trunk-or-treating, live music, and more. You and your family will have the opportunity to speak with local law enforcement and community leaders, along with many other business partners. Patrol and rescue vehicles will be on full display; your kids will be able to sit inside a police car, firetruck, and even a helicopter. Remember to dress your kiddos in their Halloween costumes so they can compete in the costume contest! This event is from 5:30pm-8:30pm in the Target parking lot off of Jonesboro Rd. in McDonough.

Veterans Day Beirut Memorial

This year’s Veterans Day Beirut Memorial 5k will benefit Marines Helping Marines. Online registration closes November 3rd. The event, held at Heritage Park, will include a 5K and 1 mile beginning at 10 am and at Tot Trot for children under 6 years old beginning at 11 am.

The Turkey Trot

Let’s eat…but first We may not end hunger, but we can make a powerful difference by feeding some. The Turkey Trot’s focus is on feeding the hungry children of Henry County Schools.
